We’re pleased to share that the London East (Portsoken) Library Hub is currently in the process of moving to a new location at Portsoken—a larger, dedicated quiet study space on the Third Floor, that will enable more opportunities for 1-1 study skills support. We estimate to be in our new Library Hub space by late Spring 2025.

We’ve included some useful FAQs below, but if you have any further queries regarding the Library Hub move, our Library contact details can be found here.

FAQs

Q. How can the Library Hub support me in my studies?

During Library Hub opening times, a member of our professional and welcoming Library Team will be on site at Portsoken to provide support and guidance with finding materials on the Online Library Catalogue, utilising ebooks and online resources, and to offer study skills support and printing guidance.

Q. I’m based at Portsoken—how can I receive 1-1 (in person) study support from the Library Hub during the move?

During this period, Library staff will continue to be present on site at Portsoken during usual Library Hub hours (i.e. each Thursday). Students requiring Library Hub support are recommended to contact the Library and request a 1-1 Library Hub study support appointment. These requests will be forwarded to the Library Hub team, who will arrange a 1-1 session, or otherwise respond to any queries via email. Before requesting a 1-1 session, please let the Learning Support team know if you have any accessibility requirements.

Q. Does this mean that the Library Hub is no longer located on the Second Floor (near Student Services)?

As part of the transition process, the Library Hub is no longer located on the Second Floor, and we are currently offering a temporary online and in person service on Thursdays, on an appointment basis. As mentioned above, queries can still be forwarded to the Library Hub via email or the Online Library LiveChat service.

Q. Will the new space include computers and a printing service?

The intended new Library Hub space, on the Third Floor, will includes a computer suite. Student printing is available on the Third Floor, in the Quiet Study Area, with mobile and laptop printing also available. IT-related queries can be raised via the ‘Submit a Query’ form on the BPP Hub.

Q. Will the new space include Library books?

At present, no hardcopy books are included in the Library Hub provision, however, students can access ebooks via the Online Library, and are welcome to borrow books from other sites (such as Holborn, Waterloo, and Shepherd’s Bush), providing they wear their student ID on site and return the items to the borrowing Library. Portsoken-based students may be interested to know we have a wide range of books related to business, business management, and management skills, at Shepherd’s Bush.

Q. Help! I have a Library Hub query that’s not listed here.

Not a problem! The Library Team are here to help—please contact us via email or the Library LiveChat, so that we can investigate further.

We look forward to welcoming you to the new Library Hub in the future!
